Where can the Christian turn in these very difficult days? Think about that question for just a minute. Too many times when difficult times come into our lives I am afraid we look to quickly to “Where” and not to “Who!”
In Psalm 124 we have David praising Jehovah God for His deliverance in a time of trouble. In verse 1 he states, “If it had not been the LORD who was on our side” here David ascribes their deliverance was totally because the LORD was on their side. The idea is, that someone had been with them, and had delivered them. We do not what the actual occasion was, but from the narrative they were in great distress and Jehovah (LORD) delivered them. This same God will deliver His children through this ordeal!
Did any of us choose this predicament in which we find ourselves? I think not, but here we are! The deliverance that was given to Israel did not come from the power or ability of man, but it came from Almighty God. We must look to Him! We must do as Moses did, “By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing Him who is invisible” (Hebrews 11:27).
My son, Winn, and I were talking yesterday and he and I agree that we need to get our heart and mind set our God is allowing this…He may even be causing it…and our heart should be thanking our God and asking that He please allow us to totally be in harmony with Him and His purpose. “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out!” (Romans 11:33).
